Our History & Mission
Founded in 1949, the New Orleans Yacht Club is one of the largest clubs in the Gulf Yachting Association (GYA). Over our 75+ year history, our membership has included national, international, and Olympic champions. Despite our competitive pedigree — having won numerous GYA Challenge Cups — NOYC is best known for its casual attitude and welcoming atmosphere.
Our Mission
To further the sport of yacht racing, marine safety, and seamanship while fostering yachting comradeship.
Club Leadership
NOYC is governed by its Flag Officers, Board of Directors, and Committee Chairs, all of whom serve as volunteers. Our thirteen standing committees keep the club running — from race management and the junior sailing program to the bar, the building, and our social calendar.
In Memoriam
We honor the members who built this club and the generations who rebuilt it — most notably after Hurricane Katrina. Their seamanship and dedication are the reason NOYC remains a great port on Lake Pontchartrain today.
